Impact and Challenge of New Technologies in the 21st Century

Today’s companies must face a very fast changing strategic landscape. In 2010, only 14% of the global workforce was over the age of 55, in 2030 22% will be; and in Japan that number will reach 54%. The worldwide GDP keeps on rising, but its center of gravity is shifting to Asia. Robots are being adopting by all industries. Meanwhile, 3 Billion new middle-class consumers want more advanced education, higher quality healthcare and more. Yet, fewer than 3% of the patents issued worldwide have any commercial value.
Taking new innovation to market carries many risks—and many rewards. The key is to focus on customer needs and big market opportunities, getting inspiration from adjacent industries & allowing champions to drive new ideas while building multi-disciplinary solutions with the right partners. For more than 75 years, SRI (Stanford Research Institute) has been bringing breakthrough innovations to the world including the computer mouse, the DaVinci Surgical System, Ultrasound, SIRI and more.

Using real business stories and personal experiences, Robert Pearlstein, shares important ideas on crossing the valley of death & taking innovation into the global market. Robert will share interesting stories such as the birth of SIRI & where VPA technology is going.

The presentation provides a scenario-based approaches to communicating value with purpose, taking calculated risks in small steps, and building trust. You will learn how to avoid common obstacles and capitalize on innovation in new markets with proven approaches that have helped many companies thrive both within and outside the US.
